Conjugaid Japanese drills verb conjugation: it puts a verb and a form on screen, and you write the form out on a hiragana keyboard built into the app. Write to timkrechel@googlemail.com and you will get a reply from the person who wrote the app.

A wrong form is the report worth sending. All 2,055 forms are generated from explicit conjugation rules rather than kept in a hand-maintained table, which is exactly why a mistake in the rules would be systematic rather than a one-off. Send the verb and the form you expected, and it gets fixed in the next update.

Three things worth knowing before you ask. Your progress lives on your device only, so reinstalling without a device backup starts you over. Typing needs no Japanese keyboard — the hiragana keys are part of the app, and nothing has to be enabled in iOS Settings. And if the full course looks locked on a new phone, “Restore purchase” in Settings brings it back; you never pay twice.

If you bought Conjugaid before version 2.0, you keep everything without paying again. The app recognises the earlier purchase on its own. If it ever shows a purchase screen anyway, “Restore purchase” in Settings settles it — and if it does not, that is a bug worth writing about.

Privacy Policy

Conjugaid Japanese collects no data. Nothing leaves the device.

There is no account, no sign-up, no server and no analytics. Everything the app knows about you — which forms you got wrong, which levels you selected — stays in the app’s own storage on your iPhone. The app contains no networking code of its own.

• No data collection: the app does not collect, store or transmit any personal or usage data. There is no server, so there is nothing about you on one.
• No tracking, no advertising: no analytics SDK, no advertising identifier, no third-party libraries of any kind.
• No network connections: the verb tables ship inside the app. It behaves identically in airplane mode, apart from the purchase.
• Your progress: the record of which verb and form went right or wrong is a file in the app’s own storage. Deleting the app deletes it.
• Purchases: the one-time purchase runs through Apple’s StoreKit under Apple’s privacy policy. The app never sees your payment details, your Apple Account or your name — only whether the purchase exists.
• No permissions: the app asks for nothing. No camera, no microphone, no notifications, no contacts, no location.
• Children: the app is not directed at children and collects no personal data from anyone, at any age.

Because Conjugaid Japanese processes no personal data outside your own device, there is nothing to share, sell or delete on your behalf. Deleting the app removes everything it stored.

Sources and licences

The conjugation tables are generated at build time from rules written for this app; the two genuine lexical exceptions (ある to ない, and the imperative of くれる) are written out as exceptions. No third-party conjugation data and no third-party code are used, in the app or on the build machine. The verb meanings in all nine interface languages were written for this app.

Eine falsche Form ist die Meldung, die sich lohnt. Alle 2.055 Formen entstehen aus ausformulierten Konjugationsregeln statt aus einer von Hand gepflegten Tabelle — genau deshalb wäre ein Fehler in den Regeln systematisch und kein Einzelfall. Schick das Verb und die Form, die du erwartet hättest; im nächsten Update ist sie korrigiert.

Drei Dinge vorab: Der Lernstand liegt nur auf deinem Gerät, eine Neuinstallation ohne Backup fängt also von vorn an. Zum Tippen braucht es keine japanische Tastatur — die Hiragana-Tasten sind Teil der App, in den iOS-Einstellungen muss nichts eingerichtet werden. Und wenn der gekaufte Kurs auf einem neuen Telefon gesperrt aussieht: „Kauf wiederherstellen“ in den Einstellungen holt ihn zurück, bezahlt wird nie zweimal.

Wer Conjugaid vor Version 2.0 gekauft hat, behält alles, ohne noch einmal zu bezahlen. Die App erkennt den früheren Kauf von selbst. Zeigt sie trotzdem eine Kaufseite, hilft „Kauf wiederherstellen“ in den Einstellungen — und wenn nicht, ist das ein Fehler, über den sich eine Mail lohnt.

Datenschutzerklärung

Conjugaid Japanese erhebt keine Daten. Nichts verlässt das Gerät.

Es gibt kein Konto, keine Anmeldung, keinen Server und keine Analyse-Werkzeuge. Alles, was die App über dich weiß — welche Formen danebengingen, welche Stufen du gewählt hast —, bleibt im Speicherbereich der App auf deinem iPhone. Die App enthält keinen eigenen Netzwerkcode.

• Keine Datenerhebung: Die App erfasst, speichert und überträgt keinerlei personenbezogene Daten oder Nutzungsdaten. Es gibt keinen Server, also liegt dort auch nichts über dich.
• Kein Tracking, keine Werbung: kein Analyse-SDK, kein Werbe-Identifier, keinerlei Bibliotheken Dritter.
• Keine Netzwerkverbindungen: Die Verbtabellen stecken in der App. Im Flugmodus verhält sie sich genauso wie sonst — ausgenommen der Kauf.
• Dein Lernstand: Die Aufzeichnung, welches Verb in welcher Form richtig oder falsch war, ist eine Datei im Speicherbereich der App. Wer die App löscht, löscht sie mit.
• Käufe: Der Einmalkauf läuft über Apples StoreKit, dafür gilt Apples Datenschutzerklärung. Die App sieht weder deine Zahlungsdaten noch deinen Apple-Account noch deinen Namen — nur, ob der Kauf existiert.
• Keine Berechtigungen: Die App fragt nach nichts. Keine Kamera, kein Mikrofon, keine Mitteilungen, keine Kontakte, kein Standort.
• Kinder: Die App richtet sich nicht an Kinder und erhebt von niemandem personenbezogene Daten, unabhängig vom Alter.

Da Conjugaid Japanese keine personenbezogenen Daten außerhalb deines Geräts verarbeitet, gibt es nichts, was wir weitergeben, verkaufen oder in deinem Auftrag löschen könnten. Wer die App löscht, entfernt damit alles, was sie gespeichert hat.

Quellen und Lizenzen

Die Konjugationstabellen entstehen zur Bauzeit aus Regeln, die für diese App geschrieben wurden; die beiden echten lexikalischen Ausnahmen (ある zu ない und der Imperativ von くれる) stehen als Ausnahmen darin. Es werden weder fremde Konjugationsdaten noch fremder Code verwendet — weder in der App noch auf dem Baurechner. Die Bedeutungen in allen neun Oberflächensprachen sind für diese App geschrieben.
